Twelve ounces of marijuana believed to have been destined for sale in Mountain Village was seized by law enforcement officials at the Anchorage Airport July 26. Alaska State Troopers say that Martin Kokrine, age 39 of Mountain Village, was trying to smuggle the drugs in his baggage.
Kokrine was scheduled to fly from Anchorage to Saint Mary’s and then on to Mountain Village. Troopers got permission from Kokrine to search his bags and found the 12 ounces of pot along with 400 dime-bag sized baggies, allegedly for distributing the drugs.
The marijuana has a street value in Western Alaska of $16,700, according to Troopers.
Kokrine was arrested and charged with two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree and was remanded to the Anchorage jail with bail set at $5,000 cash only.
