The Federal Subsistence Board has elected to keep the caribou hunt on federal land in Game Management Unit 18 open until March 15th.
Several local teams are set to compete in two tournaments this weekend. Many 1A teams from across the Y-K Delta are competing in the 25th Annual Coastal Conference Tournament in Bethel and Bethel Regional High School is taking part in the Western Conference Championships.
A conference in Bethel March 6-8 hosted by the Association of Village Council Presidents will look at the many aspects of salmon stocks on the Yukon and Kuskokwim Rivers. The main purpose of the conference is to identify ways to conserve King salmon and to get more local presence in the management process. Read more →

Years of court motions and case files stacked feet high ended Feb. 24 without much fan fare in the case brought by the Hooper Bay fire victims of 2006. A 12 person Bethel jury sided with the Lower Yukon School District saying the district wasn’t responsible for the fire. The jury deliberated for less than half an hour. Read more →
