This Friday, November 30th teams from all over the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region will gather at BRHS for the Great Alaska Conference Wrestling Championships. Local wrestlers will compete for a chance to advance to the State Championships held in Decemeber.

You can hear LIVE coverage of the Championship-Round on Friday November 30th, on 640AM KYUK starting at 8pm. 

Four athletes from each of the fifteen weight-classes will advance to the State Tournament to be held December 7-9th at Nikiski High School.

The action gets started with preliminary rounds at 9am on Friday morning at the BRHS gymnasium.

Alaska’s largest and oldest rural retailer, the Alaska Commercial Company, donated historical items to what are described as pure gold. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Rasmusson Library received the items in a transfer ceremony held on Monday, November 26th in Anchorage.

A written agreement has been drafted by the Lower Kuskokwim School District and the City of Bethel to open up the Old Armory Gym for community use. The document is just a memorandum of understanding, not a binding document. The Bethel City Council is likely to approve the terms at tonight’s meeting, moving negotiations along. Read more →
