Two Bethel teens were rescued Wednesday morning after they spent two nights lost out in the cold. The boys suffered no severe injuries, but had the attention of much of the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta.

Bethel police released information on Kenneth Anvil who was found dead Jan. 13. The 23-year-old from Bethel could be the latest victim of exposure as he was found in a steam bath on 7th Avenue.

Lost Bethel teens found

Two teenage boys reported missing have been found after spending two nights out in the cold. The pair, brothers 18-year-old Phillip and 16-year-old Sam Charlie of Bethel became lost Monday while ptarmigan hunting along the Atmautluak trail.

AVCP boycotts McDonalds

One of the world’s fast food giants has recently come out with T-V ad’s touting Alaskan caught fish on their menu. The ad claims resource sustainability, which A-V-C-P adamantly disagrees with. The Association of Village Council Presidents, represent 56 predominately native villages up and down the Yukon and Kuskokwim river drainage where salmon sustainability is at a critical time. The Bethel Warriors and Lady Warriors take it to the hardwood of the WarriorDome against the Newhalen Malamutes on Friday, February 1st, and Saturday, February 2nd. Varsity games start at 6pm on both evenings.

There will be plenty of other basketball action over the weekend as well:
Napaskiak is also traveling  into Bethel to take on the boys and girls junior-varsity squads on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Junior-varsity games start at 3pm both Friday and Saturday. The BRHS junior high boys and girls teams  have inter-squad match-ups on Saturday afternoon starting at Noon and 1:30pm.
