Troopers have named those who died and were injured in the Friday night crash near Saint Mary’s. Four of the 10 people aboard were killed. Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman, Megan Peters, said Saturday that the pilot and three passengers died in the Friday night crash.

An airplane crashed near Saint Mary’s tonight and Alaska State Troopers and other groups are at the scene. Trooper spokesperson, Megan Peters, says the plane was reported missing at 7 p.m. and as of 9:30 p.m. they were still assisting passengers at the site. The plane was en route from Bethel to Saint Mary’s. Troopers were told that there were 10 people on board the plane. They have not said which airline it was or if there were any injuries. Peters says the U.S. Coast Guard, the Rescue Coordination Center in Alaska, and Life Med are all involved in the recovery effort.

The Bethel City Council once again declined a hard look at raising water and sewer rates. Mayor Joe Klejka was behind a memorandum to have staff write up ordinances that would make the water and sewer operation cover its costs. Eric Whitney made the motion to enter the memorandum, but that’s as far as it got.

A man is facing a felony burglary charge for allegedly taking property from the Catholic church in Bethel. Police received a call Sunday evening from a man who lives at the church who had seen a man identified as 41-year-old Paul Patrick inside of the church dining hall. Patrick was wearing all black and fled on foot.

Bethel Court HouseLong-time Village Public Safety Officer Alvin Brown of Mountain Village was convicted of drunk driving in Bethel. The 48-year-old was charged with the misdemeanor on Saturday and pled guilty at the Bethel Court House on Monday.
