An airplane crashed near Saint Mary’s tonight and Alaska State Troopers and other groups are at the scene. Trooper spokesperson, Megan Peters, says the plane was reported missing at 7 p.m. and as of 9:30 p.m. they were still assisting passengers at the site. The plane was en route from Bethel to Saint Mary’s. Troopers were told that there were 10 people on board the plane. They have not said which airline it was or if there were any injuries. Peters says the U.S. Coast Guard, the Rescue Coordination Center in Alaska, and Life Med are all involved in the recovery effort.
‘Black Friday’ deals across the country aren’t enough to put a damper on the conversations surrounding the Y-K Delta, and today’s edition of “Talk Line” is a great example of that. The three-headed hosting-monster of Diane, Zach, and Joe gave opinions, insights, and comedic relief to a wide range of callers.
Topics of discussion included a possible change in water and sewer rates in Bethel, the short time left in the comment-period for the ‘Rural Determination Process’, travel advisories, upcoming community events and fundraisers, Police enforcement shutting down a local poker game, and Zach’s mother makes her yearly long-distance holiday cameo on “Talk Line.”
