Bethel has now broken or matched daily temperature records five days in a row. Wednesday’s high of 41 degrees tied the record set seven years ago in 2007. That streak may be broken soon. Bethel would have to warm to 47 degrees today to beat the record.

Bethel has now broken daily temperature records four days in a row. Tuesday’s high of 43 degrees broke a 51-year-old record of 42 degrees, set back in 1963. It did not get below freezing for a more than three-day span this week. The temperature did drop to 31 this morning.

A 29-year-old man with ties to the Y-K Delta has been charged with sexually abusing a girl at an Anchorage church. David Chiklak, originally from Mountain Village, was arrested Sunday outside a church in the Mountain View neighborhood on the city’s northeast side, according to the Associated Press.

Patrice Kunesh, Under Secretary of the USDA Rural Development, visited the Bethel region Tuesday to see some of the department’s projects in action. Kunesh and an entourage from D.C. and Anchorage toured the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation, met with the Association of Village Council Presidents and stopped into Meyers Farm.
