$27.7 million in federal funds bound for Alaska water and sewer projects

Six communities in the Y-K Delta will receive federal money for water and sewer projects. A total of 27.7 million dollars were announced Thursday through the USDA’s Rural Development program.

Hooper Bay will have 5.7 million dollars to put towards water and sewer projects, while Kwethluk receives more than 4 million dollars for their ongoing projects. 5.3 million dollars go towards a storage tank and treatment plant in Lower Kalskag. 3 million goes to Quinhagak, 2 million to Eek, and 150 thousand is set aside for planning work in Akiachak.

Other funds go to Seldovia, Golovin, Adak, and groups like ANTHC and the state department of Environmental Conservation.
