Two Alaska Students Selected for ACLU Scholarship

The American Civil Liberties Union of Alaska recently selected Amber Agwiak of Mountain Village, and Sharon Hildebrand from Nulato for scholarships.

The two women were selected for the ACLU’s Joan Hamilton scholarship. The scholarship is named after a Cup’ik Alaska Native who served as a member of he ACLU of Alaska’s board for nearly a decade.

Agwiak, is a student at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. And Hildebrand is a UAF graduate, seeking her law degree.

The scholarship offers up to twenty-five hundred dollars per academic year. It is for students seeking careers in law, and those seeking to defend civil and constitutional liberties of people in rural Alaska.
