A woman died in Bethel the day before Thanksgiving and police are investigating. 43-year-old Minnie Lake was found unresponsive November 21 in a residence in Larson subdivision.
Bethel Police and Fire Department Medics responded to the scene. They transported Lake to the emergency room at the Bethel hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Lake’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage.
Bethel police will continue to investigate the death and expect more information to be forthcoming from the Medical Examiner’s office.
Lake is the second woman found dead in Bethel in less than a week. On Nov. 15, 16-year-old Elena Herman of Bethel was found deceased in a heated shop building. The cause of death is still unknown. Police say they are waiting for autopsy results from Anchorage.
