The ice is thickening on the Kuskokwim river, and trucks and snow machines have already taken to traveling the frozen route.

With winter setting in safety becomes a vital priority as the season grows colder and conditions become harsher.

Former Bethel Search and Rescue President Peter Atchak and current BSAR member Fritz Charles join Delta Affairs Weekly host Anna Rose MacArthur to talk about cold weather safety.

Learn how to start a fire with your snow machine, what trail markers mean, and why it’s important to never leave your snow machine or vehicle.

This edition of Talk Line covers several topics, including how taxes collected from tobacco sales should be used, a current special at the YK Fitness Center for the month of December, an update from Bethel Search and Rescue, several opinions concerning liquor sales in Bethel, and whether or not gun control is the solution for acts of domestic terrorism.

There was a call about a fundraiser and the need for donations for the Senior Center, and Talk Line caught an update from Calista Corporation concerning elder benefit distributions for original shares.
