Today’s caller-driven program brought the topic of marijuana back to the forefront of the conversation. Callers, and emailers alike, share their thoughts on the taxation, regulation and policies surrounding the legalization of pot.
Friday night will kick off two games in two nights between Great Alaska Conference foes Bethel and Dillingham.
The boys’ varsity team will play at home against the Wolverines on Friday and Saturday night, while the girls travel to Dillingham to face the Lady Wolverines.
Varsity games are scheduled to tip-off at 7:30pm on both nights in both locations.

The Bethel Regional High School Lady Warriors were at home tonight against the Lady Hawks of Galena in basketball action on Friday night.
The Lady Warriors were dominant early in the game; leading 14 to 7 at the end of one quarter, and 24 to 18 at the end of the first half. The Lady Hawks of Galena kept their heads up and continued to grind throughout the game, cutting the lead to five by the end of three quarters- 33-28.
The Lady Warriors would allow Galena the opportunity to come back in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Warriors would take the lead on two made free throws from Kelly O’Brien with just over two seconds to play, to go up 42-40. Galena would squander their chance for a last-chance shot, and the Lady Warriors and their fans would breathe a collective sigh of relief.

KYUK’s weekly call-in show featured several callers discussing local marijuana laws and regulations, and their opinions on the somewhat-taboo subject. One caller suggests that the City of Bethel grow taxable marijuana in Bethel’s new aquatic center nine months out of the year, and let kids swim for free the other three months.
