Bethel man arrested for assault and interfering with arrest

A Bethel man is facing seven charges, including a felony, for allegedly assaulting a woman and the police. 25-year-old Gregory Carl was arrested on Christmas Eve.

Police were called to Carl’s apartment and were speaking with the man when a visibly injured woman came out and told police that Carl had assaulted her. The two officers attempted to bring Carl outside when he began what the police describe as “violently fighting” with them. One officer was thrown to the ground. Carl later allegedly spit in the officer’s face.

Police regained control, arrested Carl, and brought him to the jail in Bethel. Bail was set at $20,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 3rd.
