A Bethel man is facing felony charges for allegedly punching a man and assaulting another while he possessed a knife. 21-year-old Harold Arnakin was arrested early in the morning last Sunday, after police responded to a report of a disturbance. They found two people in a standoff, which they quickly separated.

The policeman had several contacts with one of the victims in the past, according to court documents, but did not recognize him due to the swelling of his face and blood.

The victim said that Arnakin invited him over to drink. The man fell asleep and Arnakin allegedly began beating him and threatening him with a knife. The man fought to get away and was eventually taken to the emergency room for treatment.

Police says the men smelled of alcohol. Arnakin is facing three counts of 3rd degree assault, including in injury with a weapon. His arraignment is set for Tuesday.
