Bethel man shot and killed, another arrested for murder

Bethel Police arrested Freddie Abraham, age 51, for the shooting death of Walter Ayagalria, age 31.
Police say that so far their investigation has revealed that the deceased, Ayagalira, allegedly hit a female at the residence. The owner of the house, Freddie Abraham, became upset. They say that Abraham then allegedly went to a bedroom, grabbed a semi-automatic rifle, loaded the weapon and shot Ayagalria one time in the body.Police say at about 10:30pm on Thursday (December 30th) they responded to a 9-1-1 call from an apartment in the area of 235 Mission Lake Road. When they got there they saw that Ayagalira had been shot in the upper chest area. He was taken to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to a written statement by Bethel Police, police officers and on-duty Alaska State Troopers immediately secured the scene and initiated an investigation.
Abraham was placed under arrest for Murder in the First Degree and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Second Degree. Abraham was transported to and remanded accordingly at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Police say a criminal history check on Abraham, further released an extensive criminal history which includes the following felony convictions: 1997 Sexual Assault, 1988 Sexual Assault and a 1978 Homicide.
Bethel Police say the case is still under investigation. They also say alcohol was involved.
