Bethel middle school wresters claim state small schools title

Bethel middle school wresters won their third consecutive small schools state championship in Tanana. Bethel’s Colin Freitas won the 174 pound bracket. He won by decision over Wyatt Witt from Wasilla.

Earning top three finishes were: Thomas Dyment at 77 with second place. At 91 pounds, Hayden Lieb took 3rd. 84-pounder Nelson Evans took 4th, and at 140 pounds, Isaiah Guy earned 5th place honors.

The team was comprised of 14 wrestlers from the Bethel Jr. High School and 2 athletes from Gladys Jung . They finished high enough to take home a big school trophy. They were coached by Andy Gillilan and Corey Tolliver.
