The Lower Kuskokwim School District is welcoming students in Bethel back to school this morning. The district notified parents and teachers on Tuesday evening that school would finally open after cold weather froze several sections of pipes. Until today most Bethel schools had not been open since before the holiday break.
School official say that Bethel Regional High School may have limited plumbing but the other schools should be fine. High school students and faculty will be able to access the bathrooms in the district office building across from the school, but they’ll have to brave wind chills of -45 degrees this morning to reach those stalls.
