After big wins in the semi-finals the Lady Warriors and Bethel Warriors both took second place in the Lime Solar/ Pepsi Invitational. The Lady Warriors lead the doubleheader championship games against the ACS Lady Lions on Saturday, January 4 at ACS. The Lady Lions maintained the lead throughout the game.
Foul trouble in the first half and Bethel Sophomore, Angela Thomas rolling her ankle in the second quarter, not to return to play, were a few of the struggles the Lady Warriors experienced which would eventually lead to their downfall. The Lady Warriors were defeated with a final score of 58-22. Leading the scoring efforts for the Lady Warriors were seniors Rebecca Brink with 8 points and Rihanna Joseph with 5 points.
The Bethel Warriors followed suit, taking second place in the boys’ bracket with a final score of 79-60. The final score fails to reflect the close game that this truly was. The Warriors fought valiantly throughout the evening on the court, but ran into some foul trouble with Taylor Hoffman eventually fouling out in the final quarter of play. ACS Lions powerhouse, Calvin Hoffman lead the scoring for the evening, securing the win for the Lions, with a total of 36 points. The Bethel Warriors’ top scorers included Taylor Hoffman with 16 points, Theodore Naneng with 15 points, and Stephen Glasheen with 13 points.
