The Bethel Warriors defeated the Kotzebue Huskies for their final game of the weekend against the young team on Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Dome. The win brought the Warriors’ season record to 17-5 with a final score of 72-25. The home team dominated the court from the very beginning, ending the first half of play with a score of 47-16. The young Husky team played with great heart, but turnover trouble got the best of them in Saturday’s game. Brett Smith was on fire, scoring a total of 25 points for the Bethel Warriors. After sitting out in Friday’s game, Ito Naneng scored 13 points and Steven Glasheen claimed an impressive 12 points.
The Lady Warriors weren’t so lucky on Saturday afternoon. After claiming a win on Friday night the Lady Huskies brought their all to the Saturday afternoon game in Kotzebue taking the win 34-40. The Lady Huskies started out hot, taking an early lead and ending the first half with a score of 12-19. The Lady Warriors stepped up their game and by the third quarter came within a few points of The Lady Huskies, but were not able to turn it around and take the lead.
On Friday night the Bethel Warriors easily took the win against the young Husky team 49-32, with forwards Brett Smith and Cory LePore dominating with 15 points each. Guard Taylor Hoffman contributed 10 points. The Bethel Lady Warriors put a damper on the Kotzebue Lady Huskies senior night coming back from a 13 point deficit to win 44-37.
