A body that washed up the island across from Bethel last week was identified Thursday, July 3rd, according to Bethel Police Chief, Andre Achee. He says the remains were identified as Preston Rory Michaels.
“ … the Bethel Police Department received a phone call from the State Medical Examiners Office positively identifying the remains we sent to them on June 25th __The remains which were found washed up on a beach, across the river from Bethel at a local fish camp,” said Achee.
Michaels went missing last December spurring a search on the Kuskowim where he was living in a cabin. The State Medical Examiners’ office has not yet determined a cause of death.
Investigators say there were no signs of foul play. Michaels’ family has been notified.
