BRHS student taken into custody for possible gun threat

by Shane Iverson on January 28, 2011

Bethel Police Chief Larry Elarton says that several Bethel police officers arrived at BRHS on Friday, after they received a tip that a student was planning on taking a gun to school, and had plans to use it to harm others.

After an initial investigation they placed a 17-year-old male into protective custody.

Police won’t say whether or not a gun was actually found, or whether charges are being brought forward, citing the ongoing investigation.

KYUK attempted to call Bethel Regional High School. The administration there directed all questions to the Lower Kuskokwim School District superintendent’s office, but those calls were not yet returned.
