And now, a correction on the baby brown bear story we recently reported on. The baby brown was actually picked up by two young ladies. . .not the man we originally named (Jay Bitney). Jamie Moyle and Jamie Solomon, who both grew up in Platinum, saw the bear running around the beach getting chased by a dog.

Jamie Moyle thought the small, 9-pound bear, seemed frightened, so she and her friend decided to help. After a long chase, they were able to tackle the bear. All night long, they took care of him, feeding him whole herring, milk, and dog food, which he eagerly consumed.

Moyle was working for KNIK construction, and her boss, Jay Bitney, (the man we identified as the one who saved the bear) helped get the bear to Bethel to the Fish and Game office.

The bear ended up being euthanized because no zoos needed a male brown bear cub.
