Digital TV Reception On KYUK-LD Channel 15

Digital TV Reception On KYUK-LD Channel 15

KYUK-LD channel 15 has started broadcasting a digital (DTV) signal. The differences between the current analog TV signal and the DTV signal will be a major improvement in picture quality and the ability to receive four separate television program streams within a single channel. The channel 15 line-up will be as follows:
15.1 Alaska One TV
15.2 ARCS
15.3 360 North/Gavel to Gavel (Juneau)
15.4 KYUK local programming and messages

FOR DTV READY TV SETS
If you own a DTV ready television do the following:
• Using the remote control for your digital television set open the “Menu” feature, locate the “Channel Scan” function and press “Enter”.
• Your digital TV will scan for over-the-air TV signals and should locate channels 15.1, 15.2, 15.3, 15.4 and analog channel 21 (ARCS).
• Save the channel scan and exit the menu function. Test the reception of all channels by pressing the “Channel UP and Down” keys.
• If you have poor reception, or no reception, you may need a “rabbit ear” type antenna. This antenna must be capable of receiving UHF signals as both channel 15 and 21 are in the UHF band. These inexpensive antennas can be purchased on line or at most electronics stores. KYUK has a limited number of antennas available for $12.00.
• Connect the antenna to the “RF” or “Antenna” input on the rear of your set and re-do the “Channel Scan” function.
• If you continue to have poor reception call Joe Seibert at 543-0237 for additional help.

FOR ANALOG TV SETS
If you own an older TV set without a built in digital receiver you will need a digital to analog converter box.

The digital to analog converter box receives the digital television signals and converts them to the analog signal that you currently receive channel 15 on. There are four configurations in which the converter box can be installed:
