by Angela Denning-Barnes on March 27, 2012

Grace Cleveland, 26, of Eek, was riding on the back of a snow machine on the Eek River when she was thrown from the machine and injured.

Alaska State Troopers say that the driver was Ryan Green, a 27-year-old from Napakiak. The accident happened March 19. The machine allegedly hit an object and both individuals were thrown from the machine.

Cleveland was medically evacuated to Anchorage for serious injuries and Green suffered less serious injuries.

Green was arrested for felony probation violation and brought to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

Neither riders were wearing helmets.

The Village Public Safety Officer in Eek conducted the initial investigation and the Troopers have taken it over.
