“Encounters” & “How to Do Everything” coming to KYUK

by Shore on July 30, 2014

KYUK recently switched This American Life to Saturday at noon, which left a vacant hour to be filled on Sunday evenings. The decision was made the fill the hour-long gap with two different half-hour segments. Read the descriptions below to find out more about the shows, and when they will air.

How To Do Everything
Here’s how this show works: listeners send hosts Mike Danforth & Ian Chillag questions—from “how do I break up with my hairstylist of 20 years” to “how do I not sound stupid when ordering wine” to “how do I escape a charging rhino”—and they answer them. Usually, given how little they actually know how to do, they find experts who can help answer the most bizarre of inquiries. How To Do Everything on Sunday evening starting at 8:06pm following NPR’s Headline Newscast on 640AM KYUK.

Encounters: Radio Experience in the North
Fans and listeners across the State of Alaska and beyond have been requesting that KYUK carry a show called Encounters; a weekly show focused on the nature around Alaska and other parts in the North. Join host Richard Nelson every Sunday on 640AM at 8:30pm for a half-hour segment containing a tight weave of scientific and indigenous perspectives, as Nelson bubbles over with boundless enthusiasm for all things wild.
