Family of young Hooper Bay girl mourn her death

A child died unexpectedly in a coastal village last Friday. A six-year old girl in Hooper Bay passed away after collapsing at school. Alaska State Troopers based in Bethel are investigating and have not released the name of the girl. They say that at 2 p.m. on Friday (September 21st) the girl collapsed during school. The child was transported to the Hooper Bay Health Clinic where she succumbed to respiratory failure and was pronounced dead at about 4:30 p.m. Troopers say the girl’s family was on the scene. They say they will continue to investigate the cause of the death.
