The United States Fish and Wildlife Service says this year’s run of king salmon is still dangerously low. Now they’ve ordered all subsistence salmon nets out of the water this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Unlike previous closures called by the State of Alaska, this one will also cover the Middle Kuskokwim River, up to the mouth of the Aniak River.

During the three day closure only whitefish nets with mesh sizes 4 inches or smaller, with lengths of 60 feet or shorter, will be allowed in Kuskokwim area rivers.
