Flood advisory for Sleetmute, SAR river report

Breakup has begin in the upper Kusokwim River. Sleetmute is under a flood advisory as waters there have gone over the bank. Bethel Search and Rescue and the Alaska State Troopers teamed up to fly the river Monday night and said the breakup front is below Napaimute and the Lower River remains intact.

These are photos Susan Hubbard took in Sleetmute Monday. The river ice was breaking up, water was starting to rise, and there was plenty of snow left on land.
