Flood watch issued for Lower Kuskokwim Valley

by Shane Iverson on May 21, 2013

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the villages of Aniak, Sleetmute and Crooked Creek from now until Wednesday morning. They are particularly concerned about ice jamming below Crooked Creek, that’s where the Weather Service says ice is still solid near Rabbit Creek. In an advisory issued Tuesday morning they state if the break-up front moves quickly past Crooked Creek, the ice could jam and result in water levels rising quickly in that community.

Stream KYUK 640 AM for the latest on break-up. More detailed information is available during our local newscasts at 8:15am, 12:15am and 5:30pm.
