Harsh realities prompt public hearings

The Alaska Legislature and the Governor have formed a task force to try to understand the crimes of human trafficking, sex trafficking, and prostitution. The task force will be in Bethel to provide a unique opportunity to educate themselves and also voice their concerns and opinions on an alarming reality that is affecting the Y-K Delta. KYUK will be recording the event and playing it for you on Friday, December 14 at 1:00 p.m.

The task force will be holding hearings in the Y-K Delta Thursday, December 13 to discuss these issues and learn how to help victims. The Task Force encourages both individuals and organizations to participate in this public hearing in Bethel in the City of Bethel Council Chambers at 3:30 p.m. and in Hooper Bay at the Tribal Council-Brown Building at 11:30 a.m. If you can not attend the public hearings your thoughts and opinions can still be heard by emailing Cori Badgley at cori.badgley@alaska.gov or mail your comments to Alaska Department of Law, c/o Cori Badgley, P.O. Box 110300, Juneau, Alaska 99811. All written comments must be submitted no later than December 20, 2012.
