High winds slow recovery efforts for Cooke and Napoka

Strong winds have slowed search recovery efforts for Nick Cooke and Jim Napoka. The winds produced waves up to 5 feet on the Kuskokwim and prevented crews from reaching the Kialik river on Sunday.

Bethel Search and Rescue reports that over 60 people assisted in dragging the Kialik river Friday with 40 residents of Eek arriving to boost the size of the crew. There were no results from the first day of recovery operations. The Alaska State Troopers suspended their search effort on Thursday.
