Holy Cross man rescued near village

A man in Holy Cross was rescued by the Alaska State Troopers this week after he was missing for a few days. 38-year-old John Aloysius had been celebrating his birthday northeast of Holy Cross where he and a friend had been camping. According to Troopers, the friends became separated on August 31.

Aloysius was last seen at about 10 p.m. and hadn’t returned to camp.

Two days later, on September 2, an Alaska Wildlife Trooper and a local Village Public Safety Officer began searching by airplane. They searched all morning and located Aloysius at about 11:00 a.m.

They transported him back to Holy Cross where he was given a physical examination at the health clinic and then released.
