The Quonset hut-style house, located at 430 7th Avenue, is a total loss.

The Bethel Fire Department says fourteen (14) firefighters and four trucks responded to the fire. Bethel Fire fighter and emergency medical technician, Fred Watson says, “on arrival there was heavy smoke, heavy flames coming from the building, it was pretty much engulfed in flames.”

Watson says they arrived quickly and kept the fire from spreading to other structures. There were no injuries in the fire.

“The fire was put out fairly quickly, response time was good,” says Watson.

The family who lost the home at 430 7th avenue was not identified.

The Bethel Police department has made a couple of arrests in connection with the fire. 27-year old Crystal Anvil of Bethel, and 29-year old Jamie Hunter of Scammon Bay have been charged with Arson in the first degree, Burglary in the first degre, and theft in the fourth degree. Anvil and Hunter are now in the State Jail here in Bethel.
