Hooper Bay boys advance to 2A Championship Finals; Aniak girls end season in 5th place

The Hooper Bay Warriors boys basketball team advanced in the 2A State Championship Basketball Tournament by winning in a closely contested semi-final match-up against the Wolverines of Dillingham by the final score of 43-42.

Hooper Bay will play in Wednesday tonight’s championship game at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage at 8:30pm. The Warriors take on Metlakatla. KYUK will have live coverage of that game on 640AM.

Meanwhile, in 1A girls State Championship semifinal action, the ladies of Aniak took a tough loss last night in its match up against Nicholaevsk, 60-29.

Aniak played Newhalen in in the 3rd place game just this morning at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. The Lady Shamans lost to Newhalen, 51-36.

The 3A Boys Championship bracket kicks off tomorrow at 8:00am with the Bethel Regional High School Warriors taking on Seward High. You can listen to that game live as well right here on 640AM.
