A Hooper Bay man was arrested for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman in the village by gunpoint. Alaska State Troopers based in Bethel arrested 63-year-old Albert Smith for allegedly pointing a shotgun at a woman and demanding sex.

According to the Trooper report, on November 5, Smith and the woman had been drinking homebrew at Smith’s home prior to the assault. The woman was able to flee the residence.

Troopers responded to the village Nov. 6 and say Smith resisted arrest by fighting and kicking officers.

Troopers seized homebrew and arrested Smith on several charges and transported him to the jail in Bethel.
