Klejka crossed the finish line at 11:46 a.m. winning $5,000. He had all 10 of his dogs.

It was Klejka’s third time competing in the 160-mile race. He has a lot of experience competing in mid-distance races on the Kuskokwim, having participated in most of the Kuskokwim 300 sponsored races.

Klejka’s older sister, Jessica, won the Junior Iditarod in 2008. His younger brother, Jesse, competed this year and finished in 7th place.

The Junior Iditarod is limited to mushers aged 14 through 17. There is a 10 hour mandatory break.

Klejka’s average speed was about 10 miles per hour.
