On Thursday, a jury convicted two men, Jeff Hout of Bethel, and Harry Williams of Kwethluk, for the kidnapping and murder of a 19-year-old from Hooper Bay. Much has been said publicly about the torturous death of Benjamin Kaiser, and much more was said over the course of the 5 day trial. Sitting there for much of the testimony, and gruesome details, was the Kaiser family. After the verdict they talked about the death and life of Benjamin.
Much of the case rested on the shoulders of witness Nick Cooke of Bethel. Cooke waited 32 hours before reporting Kaiser’s beating to police, but the family still credits him for bringing them justice.
