Klejka Reelected Mayor of Bethel, Robb Voted Vice Mayor

IMG_1598Joe Klejka will continue to serve as mayor of Bethel. In a special city council meeting Monday night, the council voted 4 to 3 to reelect Klejka. Rick Robb received the remaining three votes. Eric Whitney was also nominated but received no votes. Robb was then elected vice mayor by a 4-3 vote over Whitney.

The council also finalized new board appointments. Rick Robb moves to the energy and transportation committees while newly elected member Leif Albertson will join the finance committee. Heather Pike will serve on the planning commission and senior center advisory committee. Eric Whitney will serve on the parks and recreation committee.

Mark Springer will remain on port commission and serve as the Alaska Municipal League Representative. Sharon Sigmon will be on the public safety commission, and Mayor Klejka will stay on the public works and Yuut Elitnaurviat committees. Whitney will serve on the Delta Tobacco Control Alliance, with Leif Albertson as the alternate.
