Kong man safe after brief search and rescue

by Mark Arehart on March 28, 2013

Alaska State Troopers say 32-year-old George Evan left Bethel early yesterday morning on his way to Kongiginak when he became destitute.

Troopers were alerted when Evan did not make it into town later that evening.

Bethel Search and Rescue was alerted and say Evan’s MXZ snowmachine ran out of gas near Kong.

Evan waited by his machine through the night and was able to get his bearings this morning.

He reportedly walked into Kongiginak today and suffered no injuries.
