Local mushers race Denali Doubles

Y-K Delta mushers are racing this weekend in the Denali Doubles race. Teams run the 265 mile race on the Denali Highway from Cantwell to Paxon and back. The unique format was developed by organizer Jeff King. Teams of two mushers run a string of 20 dogs.

Pete Kaiser and his handler Pete Rueter were the 6th team out of Maclaren at 7:05 this morning. Richie Diehl is running with Arielle Axford. They were 7th out at 7:19.

The team of Martin and Rohn Buser is first into Paxon at 9:49 this morning.
