Long-time VPSO sentenced for DUI

Bethel Court HouseLong-time Village Public Safety Officer Alvin Brown of Mountain Village was convicted of drunk driving in Bethel. The 48-year-old was charged with the misdemeanor on Saturday and pled guilty at the Bethel Court House on Monday.

Brown was sentenced to a fine of $1,500 and 90 days in jail with all but three days suspended. He’s on probation for two years and cannot possess or consume alcohol during that time.

Brown has been a VPSO for 12 years.

The Association of Village Council Presidents awarded Brown the President’s Award for “Law Enforcement” at their annual convention this year.

Last winter he was awarded “Bethel Search and Rescuer of the Year” from Bethel Search and Rescue for the time he dedicated to volunteering.
