Bethel police responded to a vehicle accident earlier this week which involved a stolen truck. The accident happened on September 11 at about 6 a.m. near Larson Subdivision. A resident called police about a truck in the ditch and someone was revving the engine.

When police arrived, two people were in the cab of the truck. After investigating, police arrested a man for stealing the vehicle among other things.

25-year-old Peter Post of Anchorage was arrested for felony vehicle theft, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, and other charges. He was booked into the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

The passenger, a 24-year-old female from Eek, was transported to the hospital in Bethel for injuries she received during the accident.

The vehicle was stolen from a local mechanic shop who had done work for the owner.
