On Tuesday afternoon, travelers had came across an ATV on the ice near the of Bethel side of Straight or Steamboat slough. And they reported that there was blood on the snow, indicating an accident.
Bethel Police went out and retrieved one patient, and then connected with EMS crews once the patient reached Bethel. Bill Howell is a Bethel Fire Captain.
“The individual that was involved in the accident was hypothermic, had been outside of the entire evening, and had pretty severe facial and head trauma. The accident had reported to have possibly happened sometime around 10 in the evening, so the patient may have lost consciousness during that time due to head injuries,” said Howell.
