Many in Tuluksak without power

by Mark Arehart on January 21, 2012

The Kuskokwim 300 and Bogus Creek 150 checkpoints in Tuluksak have been running smoothly, but many villagers have been without power since Thursday.

The village, which receives power from four in-town generators, has been down to just one. The school has its own generator and is the only building with power.

Officials are meeting in the conference room at the school to try and hammer out a plan for getting the power back on in Tuluksak.

Phone lines and internet access were down for much of Friday night and early Saturday morning, but are currently back on.

K300 racers will be arriving for a mandatory four-hour break in Tuluksak sometime early Sunday morning. Stay tuned to 640 am and KYUK.org for more updates.
