Middle Kuskokwim River ice cracks in places
The Kuskokwim near Napaimute has more open water than most of the river, May 19. Photo courtesy of the Native Village of Napaimute.
While there has been some flooding on the Yukon River, the Kuskokwim has remained relatively quiet. The Kuskokwim Riverwatch Program is monitoring ice conditions through daily aerial surveys. I spoke with Karl Edwards, an Emergency Management Specialist, stationed in Aniak about what he’s seeing.
