Only minor flooding predicted for below Bethel

Bethel has seen minor flooding in low lying areas today as the Kuskokwim River breakup front moved below town in the main channel. As the main ice continues downriver, Napakiak and Napaskiak will likely experience some high water but no major flooding. Hydrologist with the National Weather Service, Celine Van Breukelen, flew the lower river this afternoon and has this update.
