A Mountain Village man has been convicted in a case involving the assault of a village police officer. Troopers reported in June that Warren Thomas Barclay, age 33, was being arrested on domestic violence charge when he struck a VPO from behind and knocked him to the ground. A struggle ensued and Barclay injured the VPO’s eye with his thumb. The VPO had to use pepper spray to subdue Barclay.

Barclay was convicted of the police assault, resisting arrest, and an assault on his girlfriend. He was not found not guilty in a charge of strangling the officer. Sentencing is scheduled for May 29th in Bethel.
