On Thursday, drug enforcement Troopers with the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team arrested 22-year-old Nick Alexie at the Bethel airport. Nick was allegedly carrying 12 bottles of alcohol and about one ounce of marijuana in his checked and carry on bags.

He was waiting for a charter flight to Nunapitchuk when he was contacted.

On Friday morning, officers arrested Nick and remanded him to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

Nunapitchuk is a local option village, whose residents voted to ban all alcohol.
