Pedestrian injured by Bethel cab driver

A young woman in Bethel was seriously injured when she was hit by a taxi cab early Saturday morning. Police say the woman is 28-year-old Tammy Evan of Akiak.

Police say that at about 4 a.m. Saturday she was hit by a Quyana cab driver on Chief Eddie Hoffman Highway in front of Raven Road.

The cab driver and other witnesses told police that the woman abruptly appeared in the traffic lane. No reckless driving or foul play is suspected.

Police say Evan sustained serious injuries but the exact extent is unknown. She received emergency medical aid and was transported to the Bethel hospital. She was later medivaced to Anchorage for further treatment.
