Pete Kaiser competes in Norton Sound 450

The Norton Sound 450 sled dog race started Feb. 6 and reigning champion Pete Kaiser of Bethel is competing. The race began in Unalakleet and will end in Nome. Eight teams are racing this year. Yesterday in Unalakleet, 25-year-old Kaiser spoke with KNOM reporter, Laureli Kinneen.

Pete Kaiser is the only musher from the Y-K Delta competing in the Norton Sound 450. He’s wearing bib number 7.

All mushers will end in the money, with 8th place taking home $1,750. The winner takes home $11,000, second place $8,500, and third place $7,000.
