Alaska’s 2016 General Election Results Now Certified, Setting A New Voting Record

State of Alaska

Alaska’s 2016 General Election results have now been certified. A majority of voters cast ballots in our state, and a record number of votes have been counted.

Gov. Bill Walker signed the certification documents Thursday morning, verifying a 60.77 percent voter turnout and 321,271 ballots cast, including 123,000 early, absentee, or question ballots. That’s an increase in alternative voting from previous elections. The state expects this trend to continue as more people choose other ways to submit their ballots rather than voting at the polls on Election Day.

For the 2016 General Election, District 38 saw a 48.89 percent voter turnout and a total of 5,151 ballots cast.
