The Bethel Fire Department responded to the Kilbuck school building for a report of a second fire.
According to a press release from the fire department, this morning around 7 a.m., firefighters received a report of smoke coming from the remaining part of the building formerly used by the Kuskokwim Learning Academy. Fire crews found a fire in an old classroom.
Fourteen firefighters, using one fire engine, a tanker and city water trucks quenched the fire before it spread to other rooms.
The Bethel Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
